Here are the top stories today in Orange County:

  1. Orange County’s most expensive home is a mini-White House that comes with unobstructed views of the Pacific Ocean, Catalina Island, Newport Harbor and Palos Verdes. This palatial seven bedroom 13 bathroom 15,500 square foot “wow” home is selling for $69M. It features stunning chandeliers, interior and exterior white Jordanian marble floors, and floor to ceiling onyx walls. You can read more here: (Orange County Patch)
  2. Community college district employees are demanding fair pay as faculty members at Santa Ana College and Santiago Canyon College are questioning a $50,000 raise for a top administrator during their contract negotiations with the Rancho Santiago Community College District. Some professors have been protesting at district offices, but officials are not backing down from their final offer. The negotiation deadlock means that a mediator could be brought in from the State’s Public Employment Relations Board to help try to work out an agreement. You can read the full story here: (Voice of OC)
  3. Many OC customers and businesses have been left in the dark about what happens after they flip the switch and receive 100% renewable energy on Thursday. After over a year of planning and activist efforts to get the plan approved, Orange County customers will receive renewable energy through Orange County’s new clean energy power agency. The only way for the agency to make its cheapest tier competitive with Edison was to automatically enroll its customers in the more expensive 100% renewable energy tier. Customers who want to keep their old rates have to contact the agency and ask not to be included in the renewable energy price increase. You can read the full story here: (Voice of OC)
