  1. Target is hiring, and some jobs are starting at $24 per hour. Target is investing $300 million to boost wages for new employees and will pay up to $24 an hour. The retailer is also providing better access to healthcare plans and quicker access to benefits. Where competition for employees is fierce, Target will offer the highest wages. The retailer said they will also offer medical plans to employees working at least 25 hours a week, down from the 30 hours depending on the job. Eligible workers will also be able to access health-care benefits “three to nine months” sooner than before. You can read the full story here: (OC Register)
  2. A Memorial service will be held for Officer Nicholas Vella, who died in a February helicopter crash in Newport Beach. The service for Officer Vella will be held on March 8 at 10 a.m. at The Honda Center, 2695 E. Katella Ave., Anaheim. The service will also be live-streamed for the public, with details about how to access the livestream available at a later date, police said. Vella and another Huntington Beach officer in the helicopter were responding to assist the Newport Beach Police Department with a call before it crashed. 3. The owner of OC’s biggest home sold their smaller home for $21 million. The stunning estate on Newport Coast’s gated and guarded Pelican Crest community was owned by Joe C. Wen, who purchased the home in March 2010 for $8.25 million. Wen got his start with a company that provided fine paper for weddings and events. He is now CEO of a multinational company headquartered in Taiwan. In August 2014, the Wen family broke ground on the largest home in Orange County, an Italianate-style 52,000 square feet Crystal Cove mansion that sits on three lots.
