Dan Albano’s Fab 5 outstanding girls basketball players last week, Dec. 20:
Erin Choi, Sunny Hills, Jr., guard
Choi scored 21 points on 7 of 12 shooting to help rally the Lancers to a 48-41 win against Whitney to close the Sunny Hills Showcase. Choi earned all-tournament honors.
Ava Dominguez, Rosary, Sr., forward
Dominguez scored 20 points and added 11 rebounds in a 53-51 victory against San Juan Hills in the finals of the Sunny Hills Showcase.
Amanda Edwards, San Juan Hills, Sr., guard
Edwards hit a buzzer-beating 3-pointer at the end of regulation to force overtime and help the Stallions beat Sonora 58-49 in the semifinals of the Sunny Hills Showcase. She also earned all-tournament honors.
Michaela Hanning, Calvary Chapel, So., guard
Hanning tallied 30 points and added 17 rebounds and seven assists in a 91-88 loss in triple-overtime against Tesoro at the Santa Ana Elks tournament.
Kayli Liew, Los Alamitos, Jr., guard
Liew scored 28 points and added five steals to help the Titans upset Tesoro 51-45 in the semifinals of the Santa Ana Elks tournament.
